ABOUT DR. PARKER DOMINIQUE
Dr Dom Biography
Dr. Parker Dominique (Dr. Dom) found his passion for helping others and working with athletes at a young age. In high school he was a multisport athlete who had his dream of becoming a football star tragically cut short when he ruptured his ACL. Times were bleak at this moment, but Dr Dom is firm believer that there is a positive to be found inside of every negative situation. He sought treatment from a sports medicine holistic healthcare provider (Chiropractor/Acupuncturist) who helped him recover from this injury and set him down an unexpected career path in the healthcare industry.
Dr Dom went on to complete his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology-Exercise Science at California State University of Northridge (CSUN). During his tenure at CSUN Dr Dom worked with paraplegic and quadriplegic patients at the Abbott and Linda Brown Western Center for Adaptive Aquatic Therapy. Dr Dom injured his back while giving his mom the Heimlich Maneuver during undergrad (she lived) and sought care at school from Chiropractic interns at his school’s health center. This event further inspired Dr. Dom to become a chiropractic physician.
After completing his B.S. in Exercise Science Dr Dom obtained his doctorate in chiropractic at the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS) graduating with honors. It was during this rigorous graduate program that Dr Dom began to build the foundation for both his diagnostic and manual therapy skills. During his time at SCUHS Dr Dom traveled to Bolivia to provide chiropractic services to the underserved population of Cochabamba. Dr. Dom has always had a passion for helping underserved communities which ultimately lead to the formation of the non-profit he started this year with Dr Rudy called the Return to Play Foundation. The Return to Play Foundations mission is to expand access to high quality care at an affordable rate for underserved populations: including those with low income, and those seeking to better their lives through exercise, as well as the fitness professionals who coach people along the way to improved overall fitness.
Graduate school was challenging and provided Dr Dom with an excellent foundational knowledge of diagnosis, manual therapy and rehabilitative exercise skills, but he yearned for more. After completing his doctorate in chiropractic Dr Dom joined SCUHS prestigious Sports Medicine Residency program. This advanced two-year post-doctoral residency program provided Dr Dom with elite mentorship from the smartest chiropractic physicians in the world. This program requires all its residence to work on the field at numerous sport events, teach classes to chiropractic students, work in a clinical setting treating patients, all while studying for numerous advanced certifications. The certifications Dr Dom received in the residency include the following: Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT®), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS®), Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP®), Diplomate from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP®), and numerous other certifications in taping and manual therapy including Active Release Technique (ART®). The highlight of Dr Dom’s residency was working at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA and traveling with U.S. Olympic Fencing before the team traveled to Rio for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Dr Dom has spent the last two years of his life in the Pacific North West (PNW) where he received advanced manual therapy training in fascial manipulation. He has now decided to take his talents to South Florida to further his mission of fixing pain by practicing evidence-based medicine.
